Pesticides are known to be sprayed to protect growing crops from pests and diseases, but there is more to pesticides than that. In this issue, we will introduce pre-harvest and post-harvest.
means pre-harvest, and refers to pesticides that are sprayed to kill the crop before harvest to facilitate machine harvesting. It is particularly well known for killing wheat before harvest and drying it out to shorten the time it takes to harvest.
means after harvest. It refers to pesticides applied to fruits and grains after harvest to prevent them from becoming moldy or being eaten by insects during transportation and storage. Post-harvest is also used to prevent potatoes from sprouting while in storage.
