It is probably indoors, since there is a floor and the sky in the background looks like a painting. The way the shadows fall also makes it look like a room. However, since there are tree branches in the back and front across the pillar, it seems that the tree branches are not in the painting. Does this mean that the tree is indoors?

She is holding a book and wearing what looks like a hat, which makes me think that she is outside. It also makes me think that she is outside. Was she painted from the balcony looking out? Alida is dressed like an aristocrat, but she was really the apprentice of a wealthy widow (a woman who lost her husband and never remarried). Her two mothers (her own mother and the widow) commissioned this painting so that she could find a good marriage partner. Her toes are showing a bit through her dress, which is a nice touch.
