This painting was painted without any drafts. The horses are in full motion, and the viewer can clearly see them in motion. The rider on the horse is drawn with thin lines, so it is likely that the artist only wanted to depict the horse.Anthony van Dyck was born into a wealthy family in Flanders (in what is now southern Holland) and had a talent for art from an early age. The painting of his self-portrait below was painted when he was 15 years old.
